I wish to know during the tax season how many returns have been done, how many are new and who has not yet returned. I think that I should roll over all 2007 returns in Jan 09 to a file called “2007 returns rolled” and then move returning clients from this file to a new file called “2008 clients”. New clients can be put in a file called “2008 new clients”. This would slowly reduce the “2007 returns rolled” and I would know what workload I could anticipate till april 15 and notify clients to put on extension if necessary (sometimes they just assume). Does anyone have a better system?
